Born in the house of Vissoux, he grew up in the estate vines. As a child, he particularly liked “riding the tractor”. At the age of 20, in 1980, he got a National Diploma of Oenologist from Dijon.
At 22 he takes over from his father who was selling his wine in bulk to merchants. He invests himself fully in the family winery by developing the marketing of bottled wines. Over the years, he increased the vineyard surface from 14 to 53 hectares by diversifying the appellations.
Managing director of the estate until 2023, he has devoted himself to a wide range of tasks, but he is particularly fond of vinification, winemaking and blending.
After a master degree in Applied Foreign Languages English-German, a postgraduate diploma in foreign trade at the University Lyon III, a MBA at EM Lyon, Martine Chermette worked at Laboratoires Boiron for a few years. She likes this natural approach to health.
Her parents instilled in her a love of nature and good produce. Quite naturally, she developed a passion for Pierre-Marie Chermette's authentic, natural wines. Since 1990, she has been the manager of the SARL marketing company, developing communications and sales in France and abroad.
Starting a gradual retirement, she continues to support the team.
He spent his childhood in Saint-Vérand and says that "it's the most beautiful little village in the world"! He passed his BTS in Viticulture-Oenology in Beaune in 2009, followed by a degree in Vine Sciences in Dijon in 2010. In Montpellier in 2012, he obtained his Diplôme National d'Œnologie. Back in Dijon, he obtained a Master's degree in International Wine Trade in 2016.
His studies were interspersed with winemaking in Australia, New Zealand, California and on the family estate.
He became managing director of SARL FAMILLE CHERMETTE in February 2023, overseeing all the winemaking, viticultural, administrative and commercial tasks. Together with Pierre-Marie Chermette, he is responsible for the vinification of the two wine ranges. His versatility and extensive training are assets to the estate. Father and son share the same philosophy.
