On foot in the Beaujolais region!

Extract from the Revue du Vin de France magazine - June 2009

A Village “perched” in southern Beaujolais between the Azergues and Soanan Valleys, St-Vérand-en-Beaujolais is home to one of the best estates in the region, Domaine Martine & Pierre-Marie CHERMETTE, run by Martine and Pierre Chermette, who make remarkable wines. An excellent pretext, among others, to take a trip to the area!

And, so that you aren’t wandering around aimlessly, a good Idea is to take the marked hiking trails that meander through the village. You choose the colour depending on how you feel: green for a 13.2 km trail, purple for an 11.6 km trail, pink for a 17.2 km trail and white for the grand tour of Saint-Vérand that is 23.5 km long. And original and peaceful way to approach Beaujolais’ undulations…

Please note that there are also mountain bike trails through the region and that this village is also part of the Pays des Pierres Dorées, thus named because of the luminous golden stone that was used to build certain villages and their houses.
