Called Pierre Chermette in the US.

This cuvée is the epitome of Beaujolais Nouveau while remaining natural, with subtle aromas and flavours. This forthright, supple and easy to drink wine opens onto fruit and freshness with the sharp flavours of fresh small red fruit. A charming wine that lights up November!

Personality of the cuvée

Contrary to common belief, Nouveau wine is the most difficult one to make and sell. In record time (around 4 weeks), you have to craft a wine that will be ready to drink on 3rd Thursday in November. We don’t do any special vinifications for our Nouveau wines. It is on tasting that Pierre-Marie selects, from 20th October, the most supple cuvées with the best fruit expression for the assembly of his Beaujolais Nouveau Griottes.

From the vine to the glass

5 hectares of Gamay at Le Bois d’Oingt on a limestone-clay soil that gives suppleness and fruitiness to this cuvée. We buy in grapes from Saint Vérand that come from granitic soil to give supple tannins. Integrated vinegrowing, manual harvest at full ripeness, universal cordon pruning. Traditional Beaujolais semi-carbonic vinification, 5-day maceration in cement and stainless steel vats, minimum SO2, pneumatic pressing 4 weeks maturing in stainless steel vats

Enjoy it from 3rd Thursday in November At its peak within 6 months.
Serving temperature: 13° C.

Matching it with food

A great partner to a very wide range of foods and dishes: Light meals, delicatessen meats, Lyon specialities, hot sausage from Lyon, all terrines (pork, poultry), white and red meat, fish. Original ideas: vinegared oysters! Wine crust red-currant tart.

Tasting notes

Robe - shiny intense ruby robe
Nose - here Gamay expresses itself to the full; the nose is forthright, an explosion of red fruit including raspberry and strawberry with sometimes a touch of acid drop
Palate – a palate with the charm of red fruit including raspberry and strawberry. In the mouth this wine is supple, swallowable and harmonious leaving a fresh sensation behind it.

Delivery from the 3rd Thursday in November.
